Office of the Registrar at Lehman College

Graduation Information

Graduation Specialists

In May 2018, the Office of the Registrar transformed its existing Graduation Audit Unit—which monitored students’ graduation eligibility—into a Graduation Specialist (GS) team.

A Graduation Specialist will collaborate with departments and review students in cohorts to identify gaps that may delay academic progress, and plan, organize, and coordinate activities that help generate and sustain students’ academic momentum. These cohorts are further broken down by units or credits, Upper and lower juniors; upper and lower seniors. Earlier interventions are far more effective than those implemented later, when a student is already preparing to complete a degree.

The goal for the GS model is to pave the road toward graduation, and make a student’s transition to the final year as seamless and transparent as possible. In addition, data is collected throughout this process and analyzed for “trending” issues among cohorts. Trends are communicated back to the schools and departments so that they have the information they need to inform advisers, faculty, and best serve the needs of students.
