Program Plan

The 33-credit program is designed around 21 credits of required courses and 12 credits of elective courses. Toward the end of the program students complete a comprehensive exam.

  • HEA 602: Research Methods - 3 credits
  • HEA 603: History & Philosophy of Health Education - 3 credits
  • HEA 620: Health Counseling - 3 credits
  • HEA 622: Organization & Administration of Health Education Programs - 3 credits
  • HEA 623: Program Planning and Evaluation - 3 credits
  • HEA 670: Field Experience - 3 credits*
  • HEA 675: Teaching Strategies for Community Health - 3 credits

Elective Courses (12 credits):

*Students with previous health care or related experience may take an additional elective course above to substitute for HEA 670
