Following the mission of Lehman College to “embrace diversity”, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies continues a long tradition of internationalization. Our students come from more than 138 countries and speak over 60 languages.
We create a variety of programs for international students and immigrants to New York City: general and specialized English language training, student exchange, faculty-led projects, and customized group programs for degree students. Our ties with the academic departments, employers, and local organizations help us remain innovative in our approach to program design.
I am pleased to invite you to learn more about our excellent programs, outstanding faculty, and historic campus. Back in 1946, the first meeting of the United Nations on American soil was held on our campus, and we have continued the tradition of internationalism ever since. At Lehman, our faculty and students represent a microcosm of the world. You will feel right at home at the College and in New York City, which takes great pride in its diversity and the worm welcome it extends to international visitors.
The academic programs at Lehman will prepare you equally well for graduate work or for entry into numerous professions, from health care to technology. Over the past decade, we have built many new facilities to support these programs, particularly in sciences and communication, and our arts and cultural venues are second to none.
As part of the City University of New York, we are able to offer you access to libraries and other facilities within the CUNY system and to affiliated programs in other institutions. We also offer internships with major companies and organizations in the New York area. In other words, the opportunities are endless.
I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities, and I look forward to welcoming you as a Lehman student.Sincerely,
Ricardo R. Fernandez, President
